Blairgowrie Project

This Blairgowrie project was designed as a relaxed, low-maintenance coastal retreat for a holiday home on the Mornington Peninsula. Inspired by nearby McCrae beach, the freeform concrete pool combines soft natural tones, vibrant blue finishes and smart automation to create a pool that is as practical as it is beautiful.

Project Overview

As a holiday home, convenience was a key priority. The pool was fitted with an Aqualink Tri system, allowing the owners to control key functions remotely via smartphone. Automatic water levelling, a robotic cleaner and a self-dosing chemical system were also included to help reduce ongoing maintenance while the owners are away.

The design draws on the colours and textures of the coast, with a Cobalt Blue glass pebble interior, sandy-coloured travertine paving, walls and coping, and vibrant blue ceramic waterline tiles. A fully tiled half-moon spa adds a refined focal point, while the sheerface water feature brings gentle movement and sound to the space.

The build required careful planning due to limited access through a narrow cobblestone driveway. More than 32 truckloads of soil were removed over five days, with all materials transported through a single access point using motorised wheelbarrows and walking platforms.

Results

The finished pool delivers a calm, beach-inspired outdoor space that feels perfectly suited to its Blairgowrie setting. With premium finishes, smart automation and low-maintenance systems, it gives the owners a beautiful holiday home pool that is easy to manage and even easier to enjoy.
